Discover Your Earth Harbor Birth Crystal

Discover Your Earth Harbor Birth Crystal

There's something charming and inspiring about the idea that we are given a special crystal associated with when we were born (also known as a birthstone). Diving into their meanings, properties, and uniqueness only adds to the fun! Also, no matter if your birth is within a particular month, if it is currently that present month’s crystal then it is great for manifesting to anyone during that time!

Tradition of Birth Crystals

Each month’s gemstone and/or mineral has special metaphysical benefits associated with it and by using these stones— whether it be as jewelry, high-vibe decor, self-care, and however else— one can take their significance and meaning upon them. They are precious, personal and believed to hold astrological and mythical meanings. Traditionally, people tended to wear their own birthstone, determined by their date of birth, with the belief that the birthstone bestowed a unique set of mental, physical, and emotional advantages (1).

History of Birth Crystals

Did you know that birth crystals vary depending on what calendar you use, where you are in the world, and what culture uses them? The Western concept of birthstones, as most of us know it, is based on the 12-month Gregorian calendar. It is believed to have originated from Biblical records; in particular, a ceremonial breastplate plate of “Aaron the Priest” that held four rows of three precious stones symbolizing the 12 tribes of Israel (2).

Other notable birth crystal origin stories include the Mythical Birthstone List, which is of Far Eastern origin, and the Ayurvedic Birthstone List, which dates back to approximately 1500 BC and relates to Ayurvedic Indian medicine (3).

And then around the mid 15th century in Poland, the trend went beyond owning your own unique birthstone to owning a set of 12 birthstones. This set would cover each month of the year and people would wear the birth crystals according to the date, regardless of their own date of birth. Why is that? Because they believed they could benefit from the changing metaphysical powers of the crystals based on monthly astrology (3).
